Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed the Wales international midfielder Jordan James on loan from Rennes, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
James returns to the Midlands two years after leaving boyhood club Birmingham City for the Ligue 1 side in a deal reported at around £4m. He spent last season on loan back in England at Leicester City, scoring 11 goals in 34 Championship appearances to be voted the club's player of the season, though Leicester were relegated to League One. He made 24 appearances for Rennes in all competitions in 2024-25.
"Jordan is a box-to-box midfielder, with a lot of quality, and knows the Championship well which is important for us," Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto said. "He is a clever player, an intelligent player, and can play in two or three positions in our way of playing and structure. The more players who know the Championship, the better."
James, capped 26 times by Wales, is the son of the former Wales semi-professional international defender Tony James, who made more than 500 league appearances, largely with Graham Turner's Hereford United, Burton Albion and Newport County.
