Harry Wilson's stoppage-time free-kick earned Fulham a dramatic 2-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at Craven Cottage, completing a second-half turnaround after the hosts had trailed for more than 40 minutes.
Yasin Ayari's long-range strike had put Brighton in front in the 28th minute, capitalising on a mistake from Bernd Leno, and the visitors came close to adding to their lead as Fulham laboured. But Marco Silva's changes after the break swung the game. Substitute Samuel Chukwueze levelled from Joachim Andersen's raking pass, and after Danny Welbeck saw a goal ruled out by VAR and another effort saved, Wilson curled in a 92nd-minute winner that left Brighton reflecting on another Premier League outing in which missed chances and fine margins proved costly.
Brighton's high press and Ayari's strike seize the initiative
Brighton arrived in west London with only one league win in their previous nine games but, as on the opening day when these sides drew, they quickly showed their ability to unsettle opponents. Fabian Hürzeler's team pressed high and hard, with Carlos Baleba, fresh from an impressive spell with Cameroon in Morocco, immediately setting the tone by robbing an escaping Kevin in midfield. Fulham did carve out early half-chances for Kevin, Jorge Cuenca and Wilson, all of whom shot too high, but Brighton's pressure often had the hosts scrabbling for room in their own half.
