Harry Wilson's seventh-minute volley and a stunning first-half strike from Alex Iwobi gave Fulham a fully deserved 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Craven Cottage, a result that underlined the growing gulf between Marco Silva's upwardly mobile side and a Tottenham team now locked in a genuine relegation battle. Substitute Richarlison headed Spurs back into the contest midway through the second half, but Fulham had already done enough, and created enough, to feel they should have won by a far wider margin.
The victory completed Fulham's first league double over their London rivals since 2004 and strengthened their push towards European qualification, while extending Tottenham's winless run in the Premier League to a record-equalling 10 matches. New head coach Igor Tudor has lost both of his opening league games, his side conceding six times in the process, and Spurs remain 16th in the table, only four points above the relegation zone with 10 fixtures remaining.
Lightning Fulham start and a familiar VAR flashpoint
Tudor abandoned his favoured back three and lined Tottenham up in a back four and a 4-4-2 shape, hoping a more orthodox system would provoke a reaction to last weekend's demoralising 4-1 derby defeat at Arsenal. Instead, Fulham immediately preyed on Spurs' uncertainty. Kenny Tete swung in an early cross from the right and, as Raúl Jiménez and Radu Dragusin challenged in the air, the ball was not properly cleared and was worked out to Oscar Bobb on the left. Bobb's precise delivery back into the danger area found Wilson unmarked, and the Welshman punished Tottenham again, rifling a half-volley in from close range on seven minutes, echoing the rapid start he had made in November's 2-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
