Willock Strike Sends Cardiff Top as Trott Defies Luton

· Match Report

Cardiff City moved to the top of League One and maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an impressive 1-0 win at Luton Town. Chris Willock scored the game's only goal in the second half to seal the Bluebirds' fourth win of the campaign and inflict a first home defeat of the season on the Hatters.

Both sides, relegated from the Championship last season, came into the game having made solid starts and produced an open, end-to-end contest. Cardiff were heavily indebted to goalkeeper Nathan Trott, who made a series of crucial saves, while Luton's Josh Keeley also did his part before being beaten by Willock's well-taken strike.

Chances Spurned at Both Ends

Brian Barry-Murphy's side made a promising start and enjoyed the majority of possession, but Luton had the first real chance of note with Nahki Wells firing into the side netting. Cardiff responded as Callum Robinson fluffed a chance from six yards out before the Republic of Ireland international tried his luck from the halfway line, only for Keeley to keep it out.
