Colchester United beat Rochdale 1-0 in League Two on Saturday, Jaden Williams scoring the game's only goal in the 86th minute. Williams had been on the pitch since the 56th minute, sent on as a substitute for Oscar Thorn.
Colchester had 11 attempts on goal to Rochdale's 11, with five shots on target to Rochdale's four. Rochdale shaded possession, 50.4% to 49.6%. Colchester won five corners to Rochdale's three, and conceded 10 fouls to Rochdale's 15.
Rob Hunt was booked for Colchester in the 36th minute. Harvey Gilmour was booked for Rochdale three minutes later, in the 39th, and Dan Moss was also booked for the visitors in the 79th, the team's second caution of the afternoon. There were no red cards.
Colchester made three further substitutions after sending on Williams, and Rochdale used four across the second half, the last with three minutes of normal time left.
