Wigan Athletic beat MK Dons 3-1 at The Brick Community Stadium in a League One matchday-four fixture, 1-0 up at half-time. Jensen Weir opened the scoring in the 35th minute from a Max Power assist, and Power doubled the lead himself in the 47th. Weir completed his brace in the 73rd minute, converting a Bradley Burrowes assist, before Aaron Collins pulled one back for MK Dons in the 81st.

Finley Burns was booked for Wigan in the seventh minute and Jack Sanders for MK Dons in the 17th, with Sanders withdrawn at half-time. Alex Gilbey was booked for MK Dons in the 61st minute and Dara Costelloe for Wigan in the 71st; Costelloe made way for Burrowes in the 73rd, the same minute as Weir's second goal.

MK Dons had the greater share of possession, 54.7% to Wigan's 45.3%, but fewer shots on target: four from 17 attempts, against Wigan's six from 19.

The result was Wigan's first win of the season, lifting them to 22nd in the League One table on three points from four matches: one win and three defeats. MK Dons remain winless, in 23rd on the same points total after three draws and a defeat.
