Wheatley and Dyche Strike Early as Northampton Brush Aside Exeter

· Match Report

Northampton earned their first win of the season by beating Exeter 2-0 at Sixfields, the result never looking in doubt once Ethan Wheatley and Max Dyche had given the home side a two-goal lead inside 16 minutes.

The visitors created little all game and were second best from the moment Wheatley struck inside the first minute, leaving them with too much to do against a dominant home side.

A Lightning Start

It took just 57 seconds for Northampton to score their first goal from open play of the season when Nesta Guinness-Walker released Wheatley and the young Manchester United loanee did the rest, shrugging off a defender and thumping into the top corner.
