Whatmough and Ashia Strike as Huddersfield Stretch Lee Grant's Perfect Start

· Match Report

Lee Grant's fine start to his managerial career continued as Huddersfield Town secured a hard-earned 2-0 victory at Reading in League One. Jack Whatmough put the visitors ahead in the 74th minute before substitute Cameron Ashia sealed three points in the third minute of stoppage time.

Grant, who left his coaching role at Ipswich in May to take his first job in management, has now seen his Huddersfield side win their opening two games, following an opening-day 3-0 success against Leyton Orient. For Reading, playing a first home league game in front of new club owner Rob Couhig, it was a second consecutive defeat.

Royals Threaten but Pereira Keeps Them Level

Reading went close when winger Daniel Kyerewaa turned neatly in the Town area and shot narrowly over. Home goalkeeper Joel Pereira then had to make a flying stop, tipping over Joe Taylor's well-struck drive after smart work by Mickel Miller.
