West Bromwich Albion produced their most comprehensive display of the season to beat Hull City 3-0 at The Hawthorns, ending a 13-match wait for a league win and climbing out of the Championship relegation zone. Josh Maja set the hosts on their way in the first half before Aune Heggebo and Isaac Price finished the job after the break.
The match turned decisively when Charlie Hughes was sent off for hauling back Jed Wallace as the winger threatened to break clear, but Albion had already shown the sharper edge. James Morrison's side out-shot Hull 26 to eight, moved up to 21st place and went one point above Oxford United with eight games remaining, while Hull stayed fifth after missing the chance to strengthen their play-off position.
A fast start from both sides gives way to Albion control
Albion began with the urgency of a team carrying the weight of recent frustration. Ivor Pandur had to move quickly from his line to deny Heggebo after Price played him in, Imray forced a strong save at the near post, and Heggebo was inches away from connecting with another delivery from the right.
