West Bromwich Albion secured their Championship survival on the pitch with a convincing 3-0 win over Watford at The Hawthorns. Isaac Price opened the scoring, Daryl Dike doubled the lead before half-time, and Danny Imray added a third after the break as Albion moved eight points clear of the bottom three with only two matches left.
The result extended Albion's unbeaten run under interim manager James Morrison to nine league matches and stretched their shutout streak to 488 minutes. They must still await the outcome of an EFL hearing into alleged Profit and Sustainability Rules infringements, while Watford's difficult run deepened again, leaving them with only three league wins from their past 19 games since 1 January.
An energetic opening quickly tilted the afternoon
Albion began with confidence and purpose, moving the ball sharply and forcing Watford onto the defensive. Price and Josh Maja both tested Egil Selvik from distance in the early stages, signs of a home side eager to impose themselves and build on the momentum they had brought into the match.
