Zan Vipotnik climbed to the top of the Championship scoring charts as his brace, either side of a freak own goal, earned Swansea City a 3-1 victory over out-of-form Blackburn Rovers at the Swansea.com Stadium.
The Slovenian striker struck in each half, while a heavily deflected effort off Connor O'Riordan restored Swansea's lead after Mathias Jorgensen had equalised against the run of play. The win continued Swansea's strong recent home run and moved them up to 15th place, eight points clear of the relegation zone and seven adrift of the play-off spots, while Blackburn slipped to 21st and are now winless in six league games, hovering above the bottom three only on goal difference.
Swansea dominate early as Vipotnik pounces on a gift
Swansea were quickly on the front foot and almost struck with their first clear opening, Brazilian winger Ronald cutting inside and unleashing a fierce strike that forced Blackburn goalkeeper Balazs Toth into an athletic save. The hosts controlled territory and tempo in the opening stages, pushing Rovers deep into their own half and dictating the pace of the game.
