The outcome keeps both clubs in the congested Championship promotion race but leaves each with mixed emotions. Phil Parkinson's Wrexham remain ninth, two points outside the play-off places, having missed the chance to claim a fifth win in six matches in all competitions. Leicester, who would have slipped to a fourth successive away league defeat with a loss and remain without a clean sheet in their last 22 Championship games, stay 14th, five points adrift of the top six but buoyed by their late escape.
Wind, Rain and a Cagey Opening Half
After a low-key, scrappy start, it was Wrexham who first adapted to the brutal conditions. Parkinson made six changes from the side beaten 2-1 by Norwich City three days earlier, with former Leicester midfielder Matty James among those restored to the XI. James had the game's first real opening, drilling a low shot from the edge of the area straight at Jakub Stolarczyk, before O'Brien controlled on his chest and volleyed just wide as the hosts began to test the Foxes' rearguard.
