Tottenham produced an emphatic Champions League performance, illuminated by a wonder solo goal from centre-half Micky van de Ven, to thrash Copenhagen 4-0 and maintain their unbeaten start to the league phase. Goals from Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert had Spurs two up before Johnson was sent off, but the hosts only grew more menacing with 10 men.
Joao Palhinha added a fourth after Cristian Romero's charge, and only a missed injury-time penalty from Richarlison, which bounced down off the crossbar, prevented the margin from being wider. Thomas Frank's side moved to eight points from four games, seventh in the table and on course for a top-eight finish that would bypass the play-off round.
Johnson punishes Pereira slip
Spurs broke through in the 19th minute when Gabriel Pereira misplaced a simple pass. Rodrigo Bentancur collected and fed Xavi Simons, who curled a clever ball over the Copenhagen defence for Johnson to dart in behind.
