Norwich City's faint hopes of reaching the Championship play-offs came to an end as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Swansea City at a sunny Carrow Road, in a game ultimately decided by two penalties. Knowing only victory would keep their unlikely top-six bid alive, the Canaries could not find a way past a battling visiting side in their final home fixture of the season.
Championship top scorer Zan Vipotnik put Swansea ahead from the spot early in the second half after he was fouled by Jose Cordoba, before player of the season Kenny McLean levelled with a penalty of his own in the 83rd minute. The share of the points means Norwich stay ninth and can no longer finish any higher, while Swansea remain 11th.
Canaries On Top But Wasteful Before The Break
Norwich were on the front foot from the word go, and it took an excellent diving save from Lawrence Vigouroux to keep out a low drive from Mo Toure on 14 minutes. Harry Darling then nodded a corner just over before Anis Ben Slimane's shot from a narrow angle drew another save out of the Swansea goalkeeper.
