The Australia international struck after just 51 seconds, added a ruthless second in the 19th minute, and completed his treble less than two minutes into the second half to kill the contest, leaving Oxford, who had not found the net in their two previous home games under Matt Bloomfield, with another blank on home soil.
Norwich, without injured top scorer Jovon Makama, were nevertheless brimming with confidence and carried a threat whenever they went forward, while Oxford relied on a Cameron Brannagan free-kick and a late Stan Mills attempt in their search for a consolation that never arrived.
