Brentford scored all three of their goals in the last half-hour to beat Chelsea 3-0 on Friday night, after a first half in which the visitors had looked the steadier side. Jaidon Anthony headed the opener in the 60th minute, Igor Thiago made it two in the 82nd and the substitute Fábio Carvalho added a third in the 93rd.
It was a third league match without a win for Chelsea, who lost at Arsenal and drew with Hull before this. Xabi Alonso has now let in at least two goals in every one of his first five league matches in charge, something only five managers before him have done: Mick McCarthy, Sammy Lee, Terry Connor, Slavisa Jokanovic and Scott Parker.
The numbers say how lopsided the possession was and how little it mattered. Chelsea had 60% of the ball and won 12 corners to Brentford's four, yet they put only two shots on target to Brentford's six.
