Thomas and Sherring strike after the break as Cheltenham see off Shrewsbury

· Match Report

Cheltenham extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-0 win at Shrewsbury, with both goals arriving in the second half through Jordan Thomas and Sam Sherring to secure the Robins' first away success of 2026.

The visitors dominated possession against a Shrewsbury side vastly improved under Gavin Cowan, but a goalless first half was largely devoid of clear-cut chances before Cheltenham eventually found a way through after the interval.

First half lacks a cutting edge

Cheltenham, who had won six of their previous seven, came closest to opening the scoring inside the opening exchanges when Tommy McDermott fired wide from a good position in the fourth minute. Isaac Hutchinson then shot straight at Matthew Cox at the other end as the early threat passed.
