Nottingham Forest battled to a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at the City Ground, clinging on with ten men after Neco Williams was sent off in the final minute of the first half. Sean Dyche's side had taken an early lead through Morgan Gibbs-White, who finished smartly inside the box after Palace failed to clear Ola Aina's long throw, before Ismaila Sarr levelled from the penalty spot after Williams handled Jefferson Lerma's goal-bound header on the line.
Palace enjoyed long spells of possession once they had the numerical advantage, but they failed to register a single shot on target after the interval and could not turn pressure into clear chances. Instead, a disciplined Forest, who were forced into a half-time goalkeeping change as Angus Gunn replaced Matz Sels for his debut, created the better openings through the likes of Aina and emerged with a hard-earned point that moves them six points clear of the drop zone following 18th-placed West Ham's defeat to Chelsea, while Palace sit three points further ahead in 14th with their winless run now at 12 games.
Gibbs-White Strikes As Forest Take Early Control
Forest started well and were rewarded when they went in front from Aina's long throw. Palace failed to deal with the delivery into the box, the ball bouncing loose inside the area where Gibbs-White reacted quickest, keeping his composure to finish smartly and give the hosts an early advantage.
