Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at Anfield to reach the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, Dominik Szoboszlai's late strike from the bench settling a tie in which Spurs had the better of the possession and the chances.
Alexis Mac Allister, in the 20th minute, and Cody Gakpo, in the 53rd, had put Liverpool two ahead before Conor Gallagher pulled one back in the 68th, Tottenham's first goal against top-flight opposition this season. Szoboszlai, on from the 61st minute, restored the two-goal margin in the 90th.
"The third one is a worldie. With other players you are thinking it is too far. With Dom you are thinking he might score," Andoni Iraola said in his post-match press conference.
