Bristol City interim manager Roy Hodgson made it two successive wins as his side held on to beat Sheffield United 1-0 at Ashton Gate. Mark Sykes scored the only goal of the game to secure the Robins' first home win since 24 January.
The Blades had a host of chances to get back into the contest in the second half, but City's on-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek produced a string of fine saves to keep them at bay. The result lifts Bristol City up to 11th, seven points off the top six with five matches left, while Sheffield United remain 17th.
Sykes Punishes Davies' Gamble
Both sides managed only a single shot on target in the first half, with the Robins scoring with theirs on 23 minutes. United goalkeeper Adam Davies advanced from his area to win a 50-50 challenge with Emil Riis, but the ball ran loose and Mark Sykes guided home past covering defenders with a cool low finish.
