Swindon Town have signed the Newcastle United midfielder Anthony Munda on a season-long loan, taking the 19-year-old into his first spell of senior football.

Munda joined Newcastle's academy in 2012 and made his first involvement with the first team two years ago, appearing in a friendly against Hull City. He played 31 times for Newcastle's under-21s last season, scoring three goals, and featured in five EFL Trophy matches. He is an England youth international.

"I feel like the point where I am in my career now, I'm ready for it. I feel like it's a really good club to be at. We play great football, so I feel like it's a good step for me," Munda told Swindon's website. "I spoke to the manager, and he liked how athletic I am, how I can get round the pitch and my bit of quality on the ball, so I feel like the conversations I've had have been quite positive."

The move is the latest in a busy summer of incomings for Ian Holloway's Swindon, who have also brought in the Hull City defender James Debayo and the Bolton Wanderers defender Sam Inwood on season-long loans, alongside a permanent two-year deal for the midfielder Matty Virtue.
