Pierce Sweeney's sublime strike earned Exeter a well-deserved 1-0 League One win against Luton at St James Park, the defender's curled finish settling a contest the hosts had largely controlled.
After a bright start from Luton, it was Exeter who created the better openings throughout, eventually breaking through early in the second half and then defending their lead superbly to keep the visitors at bay.
Exeter Build the Better Chances
It was Exeter who had the first shot, Jayden Wareham firing tamely at Hatters goalkeeper James Shea after good work by Jack Aitchison. Wareham went close again, firing against the inside of the post after being put through on goal, while at the other end Jordan Clark fired over Joe Whitworth's crossbar from a tight angle.
