Crysencio Summerville rescued West Ham from an FA Cup shock at League One Burton Albion, coming off the bench to score in the 95th minute and send Nuno Espirito Santo's much-changed side into the fifth round with a 1-0 extra-time victory at the Pirelli Stadium.
Nuno made 10 changes from the side that drew with Manchester United and the Hammers laboured for long spells against opponents 47 places below them in the pyramid. Freddie Potts was sent off 11 minutes into extra time, but West Ham survived late pressure to progress.
Discontent in the air before kick-off
A plane trailing a banner protesting against West Ham owner David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady flew over the Pirelli Stadium before the game, while the travelling supporters chanted "sack the board" early on. The performance that followed did little to ease the mood.
