Substitutes Lane and Ritchie Snatch Dramatic Late Win for Reading

· Match Report

Late goals from substitutes Paddy Lane and Matt Ritchie handed Reading a dramatic 2-1 League One comeback victory over fellow play-off hopefuls Bradford City. After falling behind to a Matt Pennington strike, the Royals struck twice in the closing moments to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

The contest had looked to be slipping away from Reading when Pennington put the visitors ahead in the 68th minute, but Lane levelled in the 90th minute and Ritchie nodded in during the seventh minute of stoppage time to complete a stirring turnaround.

A Scrappy, Goalless Opening

The first half was a scrappy affair with few clear openings. Reading's Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, a replacement for injured 17-goal top scorer Jack Marriott, saw a shot blocked and also curled the ball wide after finding space on the edge of the area.
