Matty Stevens scored his third League One goal of the season to help AFC Wimbledon to a 2-0 win over Barnsley. A first-half opener from Stevens and a second-half finish from summer signing Antwoine Hackford settled an entertaining contest.
Both sides created chances throughout, but Wimbledon took theirs while Barnsley were left to rue a series of missed opportunities, none more glaring than two from experienced striker David McGoldrick.
End-to-End Opening
It was an exciting start to the clash, with Myles Hippolyte forcing an excellent save from goalkeeper Murphy Cooper. Barnsley responded and McGoldrick should have scored midway through the first half after getting onto the end of a superb cross, only for goalkeeper Nathan Bishop to produce an even better save to deny him.
