Southampton have signed Manchester City striker Divin Mubama on a season-long loan. The move came on the same day Southampton sold Northern Ireland midfielder Shea Charles to Fulham for £30m.
Mubama, 21, spent last season on loan at Stoke City, scoring five goals in 26 Championship appearances. His campaign was disrupted by a ligament injury sustained in a 0-0 draw with Queens Park Rangers in January, the result of a challenge Stoke manager Mark Robins described as "terrible"; Mubama played only once more for the Potters afterwards.
A product of the West Ham academy, Mubama made 18 appearances for the Hammers, including eight as a Premier League substitute, and was an unused substitute when West Ham won the Europa Conference League final in June 2023. He joined Manchester City in the summer of 2024 and has scored twice in pre-season this month, against Inter Milan and the K-League All Stars, as well as providing an assist in a 3-1 win over Atletico Madrid in Seoul on Sunday, on City's tour of Asia.
"With the way this team plays, when you've got players around you that have that much quality, you will be served," Mubama told the Southampton website. "It's up to you whether you put the ball in the back of the net, and that's what I'm here to do. I've just come back from a pre-season where I've scored goals. I've been playing, I feel really fresh, I feel sharp, so I'm just really excited to get going."
