Soumare's own goal halts Blades' surge as Norwich snatch a battling point

Sheffield United's four-match winning run was brought to a halt as Djibril Soumare's own goal gifted struggling Norwich City a 1-1 draw. Danny Ings had finally ended a 15-month goal drought with his first goal for United early in the second half, only for the hosts to undo their hard work with a scruffy concession that left both sides sharing the spoils.

It was an open, entertaining contest in which both teams created enough chances to win it. Ings cleared one effort off his own line and somehow headed another chance over an open goal in a busy personal performance, while Norwich substitute Amankwah Forson was denied a stoppage-time winner by Michael Cooper. In the end, the point barely alters the wider picture: United remain in 17th rather than closing in on the play-off places, and Norwich stay five points adrift of safety despite avoiding what would have been a division-leading 13th defeat.

Lively opening showcases both keepers and both attacks.
