Rangers were handed another harsh Europa League lesson at Ibrox as an accomplished Roma side recorded a comfortable 2-0 win, inflicting a fourth consecutive defeat in this season's competition and a club record seventh European loss in a row.
Danny Rohl's side were booed off at half-time with a two-goal deficit that could easily have been greater. Matias Soule and Lorenzo Pellegrini scored in the opening 36 minutes for a Roma team that oozed class and composure despite missing several key players, leaving Rangers rooted to the bottom of the Europa League table.
Soule pounces from a corner
The opener arrived after 13 minutes following sloppy play from Jayden Meghoma that conceded a corner. Pellegrini delivered a wicked early ball from the right, captain Bryan Cristante flicked on at the near post, and Soule stole in at the back to nod into an unguarded net.
