Coventry City underlined their dominance at the top of the Championship with a 3-1 comeback victory over Charlton Athletic, hitting the 50-goal mark for their league campaign in the process. Trailing to Harvey Knibbs' early strike, the Sky Blues turned the game around with two goals just before half-time from Josh Eccles and Ellis Simms, before Simms struck again late on to seal the points at the CBS Arena.
Charlton contributed fully to an open, compelling contest and led for much of the first half, creating chances to extend their advantage and later to draw level. But Coventry's ruthless finishing, formidable set-piece threat and deeper reserves of quality ultimately told, extending Frank Lampard's side's remarkable run at the summit while condemning Nathan Jones' visitors to a fourth successive defeat.
Addicks Strike First and Threaten to Pull Clear
For the third home league game in a row, Coventry fell behind, and once again it came from the opposition's first real threat. Charlton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski launched a free-kick deep into the Coventry penalty area, where Tyreece Campbell seized on the second ball. His effort took a deflection and fell kindly to Knibbs, who turned in from around six yards to claim his first goal since August and stun the home crowd.
