Barnet won 3-1 at The Croud Meadow on the second matchday of the League Two season, recovering from a first-half Shrewsbury equaliser to score twice in the closing ten minutes. Jake Reeves put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute, Josh Davison levelled for Shrewsbury in the 40th, then Charlie Lakin (82') and substitute Tom Knowles (89') settled it for Barnet.
Barnet had the better of the underlying numbers too, out-shooting the hosts 15 to ten (three on target to one) and holding 55.9% of possession to Shrewsbury's 44.1%, while also winning more corners, nine to seven.
Shrewsbury's Jay Turner-Cooke, on as a substitute, was the only player booked all afternoon, cautioned in the 67th minute. There were no red cards.
Both benches were used heavily late on. Barnet made a triple change in the 60th minute, sending on Tom Knowles among others, then made three further changes in stoppage time. Knowles scored Barnet's clinching third goal 29 minutes after coming on. Shrewsbury made four substitutions between the 64th and 81st minutes, one of them enforced by injury.
