Sheffield Wednesday thrashed Bromley 7-2 at Hillsborough in League One matchday three, with braces from Jamal Lowe and Louie Barry among five different scorers putting the game beyond the newly promoted visitors before two Bromley goals in the closing stages.
Callum Slattery opened the scoring in the 6th minute, Mason Burstow doubled the lead in the 30th, and Lowe made it three in the 44th. Barry struck twice early in the second half, in the 45th and 48th minutes, before Lowe's second in the 72nd and a seventh from substitute Gabriel Otegbayo in the 80th. Bromley pulled two back late on: Victor Adeboyejo's 84th-minute penalty and an 86th-minute own goal from Otegbayo.
Bromley's Mitch Pinnock and Omar Sowunmi were both booked, in the 33rd and 55th minutes, and Wednesday's Slattery was cautioned deep into stoppage time; no player was sent off. Wednesday introduced Otegbayo for Ricardo Santos at half-time and made four more changes after the hour, while Bromley used all five of their substitutes, three of them at the break.
The win lifts Sheffield Wednesday to fourth in League One on six points from three games, with two wins and one defeat. Bromley, playing their first season in the division after promotion, sit 15th on four points, with one win, one draw and one defeat.
