Shaughnessy and Marezi sink winless Cardiff as fan clash mars Portsmouth win

· Match Report

Conor Shaughnessy and Marezi scored either side of half-time as Portsmouth beat Cardiff City 2-0 at Fratton Park, earning John Mousinho's side their first home win of the season and leaving the visitors still waiting for a first Championship victory since promotion.

The result was overshadowed late on by an ugly scene off the pitch, when Cardiff defender Krystian Bielik clashed with a home supporter, prompting an apology from Mousinho and a review by the Football Association.

A Tribute and a Header Before the Break

It was an emotional afternoon before a ball was kicked. Portsmouth paid tribute to former goalkeeper Alan Knight, who died this week aged 65 after 801 appearances for the club and later service as coach and ambassador, and both sets of players stood around the centre circle for an impeccably observed minute's silence. The hosts also handed debuts to deadline-day signings Tyrese Shade and Jayden Meghoma.
