Manchester United came from behind to beat 10-man Crystal Palace 2-1 at Old Trafford, extending Michael Carrick's unbeaten Premier League start and climbing into third place. Benjamin Sesko, handed his first start under Carrick, supplied the decisive moment with a towering header midway through the second half after Bruno Fernandes had levelled from the penalty spot.
For long spells, however, this was Palace's game. Maxence Lacroix gave the visitors a fourth-minute lead and Oliver Glasner's side had the better of the first half against a lethargic United. The contest turned on Lacroix's dismissal for pulling back Matheus Cunha early in the second period, a decision that not only brought a penalty but left the Eagles a man down and struggling to contain a United team that gradually imposed themselves.
Lacroix's early header stuns a sluggish United
Old Trafford was silenced inside four minutes. From Brennan Johnson's corner, Lacroix wriggled free of Lenny Yoro and met the delivery with a firm header back across goal and in off the post. It was all too easy from United's point of view and marked the earliest goal they have conceded this season, as well as the first time they had trailed in the league at home since the 4-4 draw with Bournemouth on December 15.
