Watford and Leicester City played out a 0-0 draw at Vicarage Road that did little to advance either side's ambitions. Leicester City stayed in the bottom three after Patson Daka saw a 40th-minute penalty brilliantly tipped on to the post by Egil Selvik, while Watford's fading play-off hopes were scarcely improved by a point in a match short on attacking quality.
The contest rarely rose above a scrappy, stop-start rhythm. Leicester City carried the greater urgency after the break and created the clearer openings, but Daka later headed wide from close range and Divine Mukasa shot straight at Selvik. Watford eventually stirred, with Nestory Irankunda and Luca Kjerrumgaard both denied by Jakub Stolarczyk, yet neither team could turn late pressure into a winner.
A flash of quality brings the game's biggest moment
For much of the first half, both teams were trapped in a cycle of tackles, hurried passes and failed attempts to force openings. Abdul Fatawu even seemed to be reflecting the general mood when he slipped and beat the turf in frustration while trying to take on two defenders.
