Ismaila Sarr scored twice as Crystal Palace edged past nine-man AEK Larnaca in extra time in Cyprus to move into the quarter-finals of the Conference League, setting up a meeting with Fiorentina. The Senegal forward struck in the 13th minute and again in the 99th to settle a tie that had finished goalless in south London a week earlier.
In between, Spanish defender Enric Saborit headed Larnaca level from a corner before being sent off for a second yellow card. A late dismissal for Petros Ioannou for a studs-first challenge on Jean-Philippe Mateta reduced the hosts to nine men, with the closing stages marred by cups and other objects being thrown onto the pitch.
Sarr's early strike sets the tone
Palace started with intent and were rewarded when Adam Wharton's deflected pass sent Sarr clear through the middle. Zlatan Alomerovic rushed out of his area too quickly and the forward skipped around the goalkeeper to roll the ball into an empty net for his 14th goal of the season.
