Bromley claimed their first ever EFL Cup victory in the most dramatic fashion, knocking out Championship side Ipswich on penalties at Hayes Lane after a 1-1 draw. In only their second season in the Football League, Andy Woodman's side stood toe to toe with opponents who were in the Premier League three months ago.
Deji Elerewe nudged the hosts in front just before the break, Ben Johnson levelled for Ipswich after the restart, and goalkeeper Sam Long ultimately stole the show with two penalty saves before Marcus Ifill drilled in the winning kick.
A corner unlocks the night
Ipswich, much changed under Kieran McKenna and handing Ashley Young a first start on the right, dominated possession in the opening period without seriously testing the home defence. Jack Clarke was lively cutting in from the left and Leif Davis overlapped to deliver cutbacks, but centre-half Omar Sowunmi towered over Ali Al-Hamadi and snuffed out the danger.
