Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the game, in the 58th minute, as Arsenal beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park to make it two wins from two in their defence of the Premier League title.
Unai Emery's much-changed Villa were a far more resilient proposition than they had been on the opening weekend, but they never found a way to test David Raya. They finished without a shot on target, and have now lost their first two league games of a season without scoring for the first time since 2002.
Arsenal, unchanged from the win over Coventry, held 61 per cent of the ball but the shot count finished level at seven apiece, and only two of Arsenal's were on target.
