Carl Rushworth produced a superb goalkeeping display as Coventry City held Leicester City to a goalless draw in a keenly contested M69 derby at the King Power Stadium. The on-loan Brighton goalkeeper made nine saves, repeatedly frustrating Marti Cifuentes' side, who created the better chances but could not find a way through in a lively, if ultimately scoreless, Championship encounter.
Leicester started strongly and enjoyed long spells of territorial control, yet the visitors, the division's most prolific team coming into the game with 15 goals from five league matches, carried enough threat of their own after the interval to ensure this was far from one-way traffic. Stephy Mavididi squandered the best opening of the afternoon when denied one-on-one by Rushworth, while at the other end Jakub Stolarczyk had to be alert to keep out Jack Rudoni and Haji Wright as both promotion hopefuls ultimately settled for a point that keeps the Foxes one ahead of unbeaten Coventry in the table.
Foxes Start on the Front Foot but Find a Wall in Rushworth
Leicester made their intent clear in the opening exchanges, carving out two sights of goal inside the first six minutes as Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu both threatened. The ceaselessly energetic Fatawu then produced the first real moment of quality, racing away from deep in his own half before bending a low effort that Rushworth gathered cleanly, a save that set the tone for the goalkeeper's afternoon.
