Rotherham United have signed the Brentford goalkeeper Julian Eyestone on a season-long loan. The 6ft 6in, 20-year-old will compete with Ted Cann for the number one jersey as the Millers, relegated from League One last season after finishing 23rd, 11 points from safety, look to bounce back to the third tier at the first time of asking.
Eyestone, a United States youth international from Texas, joined Brentford in 2024. He helped the club's Under-21 side reach the final of the Premier League Cup before being promoted into the first-team squad a year ago, and was named among the substitutes for Brentford's third-round FA Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday in January. He trained with the USA senior squad during their World Cup campaign this summer.
The loan is Rotherham's latest piece of business since relegation, at a club that has appointed Alex Bruce as head coach and Steve McClaren as director of football at the Aesseal New York Stadium this summer. Rotherham open their League Two campaign away at Cheltenham Town on Saturday.
