Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs saved all three Everton penalties in a shoot-out as the Black Cats reached the FA Cup fourth round with a 3-0 win on spot-kicks after a 1-1 draw following extra time at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Dutchman denied James Garner, Thierno Barry and Beto in quick succession, before Luke O'Nien, on his first start of the season, smashed home the decisive penalty to send Regis Le Bris' side through to the fourth round for only the second time in the past 11 seasons.
