Ruben Rodrigues has signed a new contract with Bolton Wanderers, extending his stay at the club until June 2028.
The 30-year-old Portuguese midfielder joined Bolton on a free transfer in January on an 18-month deal, and the club moved to reward him with the extension after his part in their promotion to the Championship. Rodrigues scored twice as Bolton beat Stockport County 4-1 in the League One play-off final at Wembley in May.
He is yet to play in the Championship this season, having suffered a knee injury against Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup. Bolton have made a solid start without him, sitting fifth in the table after winning their opening match.
"When I played with Oxford here it was something I always wanted to experience, to play for Bolton," Rodrigues told Wanderers TV. "To finally do that and to get the appreciation of wanting me to stay longer is a very nice thing. I feel like I'm getting fitter every year and I feel like I'm getting better every year. I hope a bare minimum two more years here and who knows whatever happens in the future?"
