Rochdale have signed the midfielder Baba Adeeko from Wigan on a one-year deal, ahead of their opening League Two fixture of the season away to Newport County on Saturday.
Adeeko, 23, made 98 appearances for Wigan across five years at the club, having made his first-team debut in a Carabao Cup tie in 2021. He went on to make 80 appearances in League One.
Wigan made Adeeko available for transfer in May, along with the midfielders Joseph Hungbo and Jonny Smith, as the League One club also confirmed the departures of the captain Jason Kerr and seven other players.
The Galway-born Adeeko has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 and Under-21 level.
