Rochdale 1-4 Gillingham: Brophy double sparks first win of the season

Gillingham claimed their first win of the League Two season with a 4-1 victory at Rochdale. James Brophy scored twice, Omar Beckles and Lamin Sillah added one each, and Charlie Tasker headed a late reply for the hosts on his debut.

The visitors had drawn three and lost one of their opening four league games. They led from the 32nd minute, were three goals clear by the 55th, and saw Rochdale's Ed Francis sent off in the 59th minute for a second yellow card.

Gillingham Absorb an Early Double Blow

Gillingham lost two players inside the opening 17 minutes. Zech Obiero was carried off on a stretcher and Will Goodwin also came off, with Eli King and Sillah introduced for them in the 17th minute.
