Liverpool cruised into the FA Cup quarter-finals with a dominant second-half display at Molineux, beating Wolves 3-1 to avenge the last-gasp Premier League defeat they had suffered at the same ground just three days earlier.
After a forgettable first half in which they had all 11 shots but created little of note, Arne Slot's side raced to a 2-0 lead within 10 minutes of the restart through Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah. Curtis Jones added a sumptuous third before Hee-Chan Hwang struck a consolation in injury time.
A familiar pattern before the breakthrough
The early stages were strikingly similar to Tuesday's league meeting. Liverpool monopolised the ball without truly threatening, Cody Gakpo heading against the bar from an offside position the closest they came in a half littered with wrestling at corners and speculative long shots.
