Reading thrashed Mansfield Town 5-0 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in League One matchday four, with a first-half salvo settling the contest before the break.

Jack Marriott opened the scoring in the 34th minute, Benn Ward doubled the lead in the 39th and George Earthy made it three in the 43rd, sending Reading in 3-0 up at half-time. Marriott added his second in the 57th minute and Jacob Brown completed the scoring in the 79th.

Reading goalkeeper Joel Pereira was the only player booked, cautioned in the 71st minute for time wasting; no player was sent off.
