Rashford: "It would be great to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day"

Marcus Rashford has said he wants to "get my head down and play football" without constant scrutiny, after Jamie Carragher shut down a question about him on the Stick to Football podcast.

In a clip posted on the Overlap's X account, Gary Neville turned the conversation to Rashford, prompting an exasperated response from co-host Carragher. "Can we do a podcast without mentioning Rashford?" he said. "Stop it. Oh my God. It's like the Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and Rashford, like a little part of the podcast. The Trent part or the Rashford part."

Rashford replied to the clip on X. "Thanks, Jamie," he wrote. "It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day."

The 28-year-old is back at Old Trafford after a season on loan at Barcelona, where he won the La Liga title, and he is in line to feature in Michael Carrick's squad when Manchester United open their Premier League season away to newly promoted Hull on Saturday. His last competitive appearance for United came under former manager Ruben Amorim in December 2024.
