Rangers rue Djiga error as 10-man Braga snatch Ibrox draw

— Match Report

Rangers picked up their first point of the Europa League campaign but were left to rue a missed opportunity as a defensive error from Nasser Djiga allowed 10-man Braga to escape Ibrox with a 1-1 draw.

James Tavernier's first-half injury-time penalty had given the Scottish Premiership side the lead, an advantage compounded just after the hour when Rodrigo Zalazar was sent off for a headbutt motion at Nicolas Raskin. But Djiga's panicked header from a throw-in dropped perfectly for Gabri Martinez to equalise, denying Danny Rohl's side a much-needed European victory.

Butland keeps the visitors at bay

Braga arrived in Glasgow as the in-form side, sitting pretty in the table with nine points from their opening four games and already a winner at Celtic earlier in the competition. They looked the part too, with Ricardo Horta twice denied by Jack Butland — first with a stretching low save, then with a block as the striker raced through on goal.
