Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski each scored twice as a rampant Barcelona dumped Newcastle United out of the Champions League with a 7-2 thrashing at the Spotify Camp Nou, sealing an 8-3 aggregate win and a quarter-final tie with Atletico Madrid.
For three-quarters of the tie Eddie Howe's side genuinely went toe-to-toe with the five-time European champions, twice equalising through the rapid Anthony Elanga in a competitive first half. But once Lamine Yamal converted a stoppage-time penalty to make it 3-2 at the break, the visitors fell apart in sobering fashion.
A Frantic First-Half Shootout
The night began badly for Newcastle when Lamine Yamal's sharp turn in the centre circle caused Malick Thiaw to slip, allowing Raphinha to sprint free, exchange passes with Fermin Lopez and bend the ball into the bottom corner after just six minutes.
