Preston North End have signed the Ipswich Town defender Harry Clarke on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, completing a double swoop that has also brought in the French midfielder Leo Leroy from Basel.
The 25-year-old came through the youth academy at Arsenal before returning to his boyhood club Ipswich in January 2023, and was part of the side that won back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League in 2023 and 2024. He went on to have loan spells at Sheffield United and, from January, Charlton Athletic.
Clarke's move ends a chase for his signature that had also involved Bristol City, Stoke City and Sheffield United this summer; Stoke had been reported to have agreed a deal in principle for the right-back worth £3.5m earlier in the window.
"I can't wait to get started and show the North End fans what I can do," Clarke told the club website.
