Porto came from behind to beat Rangers 3-1 at the Estadio do Dragao, a comeback win that secured Francesco Farioli's side direct passage to the Europa League last 16 and brought down the curtain on a dismal European campaign for Danny Rohl's already-eliminated visitors.
Djeidi Gassama headed Rangers ahead inside the opening exchanges, but a chastening 15-minute spell before the break, in which Rodrigo Mora, Francisco Moura and an Emmanuel Fernandez own goal all found the net, settled the contest. The hosts comfortably saw out the second half despite a brighter Rangers response.
Gassama Strikes Early to Stun the Dragao
Rohl had asked his players to be "nasty guests" and for the opening 25 minutes Rangers were certainly awkward, containing their illustrious hosts and even snatching the lead. After just six minutes Findlay Curtis swept in a cross from the right that Gassama headed down into the ground and beyond Portugal international Diogo Costa for his sixth European goal of the season.
